Howard L. Mead

Howard has over 30 years of Insurance background in Marketing and Underwriting with Insurance Carriers as well as with Retail and Wholesale brokerage firms. He has extensive management experience and enjoys building relationships with the Insurance community. He is an active Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and is a licensed broker in the State of California. He is also involved in the Insurance Program at California State University at Fullerton and has participated in many industry panel discussions.

Howard’s career began at Aetna Life and Casualty as a Casualty Underwriter. After several years, he joined Aetna’s National Accounts Division in developing new clients and servicing existing clients. He, then, served as Marketing Manager in one of Aetna’s key offices in Southern California. Howard moved on to AIG where he managed their Specialty Workers Compensation Division as well as their Casualty Risk Management Division. During the course of his career, he has also worked for Crum and Forster and Superior National in key management roles.

Howard’s underwriting experiences include both Casualty and Property Underwriting as well as Loss Responsive and Alternative Risk programs. His real strength is in structuring Casualty insurance programs which support client’s needs and are mutually profitable for both the client as well as Alta Holdings. These programs would include Loss Responsive programs such as Large Deductible or Paid Loss Retrospective plans to Captive Company structures.
